April is Autism Awareness Month

This time last year I posted the prevalence of autism being 1 in 88 children affected.  The CDC just released on March 27th that now the numbers are 1 in 68.  And even more startling is that boys are 1 in 42.

My son David, who is 16 years old,  came into my life back in late 2007.  In 2009 I married his mom and we became a family.  When he was 4 years old he was diagnosed with autism and at that time the numbers were approximately 1 in 250.  This boy has forever changed my life and every day I am thankful for the gift he is.

April is Autism Awareness month but those affected by autism work at shining a light on this epidemic every day.   Will you help shine a light on autism?  On April 2ndworldwide blue lights will be shining from home porches, to businesses to buildings.  Get yours for tomorrow and help raise the awareness needed so conversations can start happening and people can begin to or continue to be educated about this puzzling disorder.  Go to your local Home Depot to purchase your light bulb or stop by my office at 1248 Gunn Hall Drive Suite 102 to get your free bulb.

Let’s join together, let’s do this!

Join us in SHINING A LIGHT on autism!
